Arco Dune House

Arco Dune House is composed as a sequence of protected rooms rather than a single object in the landscape. Rose-toned rammed-earth walls gather four sleeping suites, a library and the principal living pavilion around a cool, planted court. Openings are deliberately offset, so the ocean is revealed gradually as one moves from the shaded entry toward the western terrace.

The house was imagined for long, unhurried stays. Deep mesquite screens filter the harshest sun, while high-level vents allow warm air to leave naturally. The living room can open completely to the court and pool without losing shelter from the prevailing wind. At dusk, the walls retain the last warmth of the day and the oxidized-steel roof line almost disappears against the dunes.

Every material was selected to become richer with age. Local mineral aggregates give the walls subtle variation; hand-finished plaster softens the private rooms; and dark volcanic stone marks the thresholds. The result is tactile, grounded and quietly cinematic — a home that belongs to its climate without imitating any known regional archetype.
